What is MCP for WhatsApp?
MCP is how Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI assistants talk to Kondo Desktop. They can read your WhatsApp inbox and take the inbox actions you approve, while the app is running on your computer.
Can the WhatsApp MCP server send messages on my behalf?
No. Kondo’s WhatsApp MCP server has no send tool, and Kondo does not run outreach sequences. Everything your agent writes is saved as a draft in the chat, where it waits until you review it and choose to send. Your agent can read, label, remind, archive and draft, but the decision to send always stays with you.
Does this upload my WhatsApp chats to Kondo?
No. Message data is read from the Kondo app on your computer. Command and response data passes through Kondo’s relay in memory and is not stored and your WhatsApp login is never shared with your AI assistant.
Does the desktop app need to stay open?
Yes. MCP only works while Kondo Desktop is running on your computer. Pair WhatsApp once, leave the app running, and connect the client you already use.
Which AI assistants work with Kondo’s WhatsApp MCP server?
Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot and any other MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP. Paste the endpoint URL into your assistant and it connects to your WhatsApp inbox; ChatGPT shows a confirmation step before any write action such as labeling or drafting. What can I actually ask my AI agent to do in WhatsApp?
Ask it to find unanswered chats, search by contact name or message text, label incoming chats, snooze chats for follow-up, archive old chats or draft a reply to a specific person. For example: “Find everyone who messaged me about pricing this week and draft a follow-up for each.”
